This December Theater of Thought will be producing MATT & BEN by Mindy Kaling & Brenda Withers as a fundraiser event. You host a party. We will provide pizza, beer, Matt Damon & Ben Affleck. It will be a rousing good time.
Here's how it works: The host puts
together a party with guests that they invite. (This way, they are
comfortable with who is in their house.) Everything runs on suggested
donations: $15 admission, $2-3 for pizza and beer. Once all of the
guests arrive, the show will begin. We have 2 great actresses for this
one: Melissa Bowler and Leigh Hendrix. If you don't know anything
about the show, it is 2 women playing Matt Damon & Ben Affleck. In
the story, they are adapting "Catcher in the Rye" into a screenplay by
typing dialogue from the book, when the script for "Good Will Hunting"
falls from the sky onto their coffee table... Our production will be
rather interactive to include people in the party, and should be a good
time for all.
We
need only a small playing area, but a large
enough room to fit a decent audience. It should include a sofa, or a
couple of chairs, and a table we could fit a typewriter on. We will
also want access to the space 1 hour before the performance in order to
walk the space and rehearse the fight scene. We are shooting for
around 20
people at each show to cover the cost of rights and production, while
paying actors and keeping the snack money to invest in some big ideas
for Theater of Thought in 2011.
THEATER OF THOUGHT presents Killer Joe by Tracy Letts Fridays & Saturdays @ 8:30pm May 14-29 Starring: Josh Short, Rae Mancini, Brien Lang, Amber Kelly & Joe Ouellette
25 Eagle Street Providence
This
show is outside. Come prepared. The audience will be elevated and
peering down into an actual trailer with the roof removed. There will
be nudity, there will be violence, there will be blood. It will not be
boring.
"It's like someone took Macbeth, All in the Family, and
Sylvia Plath, tossed them in a blender, and splattered them inside a
beat-to-fuck trailer in Dallas County." -The Austinist

This is our first production inside a theater for years, but don't expect to just sit there.
Take a journey through some of Terrence McNally's lesser-known works with these three brave plays. There are basic needs for every human being, but the desire that defines our humanity is acceptance. This production is not for the faint of heart. The audience is asked to follow the action physically throughout the building, and psychologically through exposure and darkness on a treasure hunt in hopes of finding approval in our relationship to each other and the lengths we are willing to go to in order to obtain it.
*This production includes nudity and some harsh language.
